In Bangkok, a city of about 16 million people, it can be difficult to gather easily. In an urban context, friends and church members may have to travel an hour just to come for dinner. Missionaries Trey and Kiki Adams recently launched a parish-style church plant in Prawet District, where they can live and minister within blocks of their neighbors.

With three small children, Trey found himself drawn to a parish style of ministry so he could not only be with his family in the evenings, but also take his kids on a walk and meet people in the community. He wants to live where people around him can easily get to know his family, where he and Kiki can invite them over for a meal or Bible study.

The Thailand team started New City Fellowship in 2007 and downtown congregation Grace City Fellowship in 2012. They’re now at kind of an in-between point between the two. The district is a family-friendly area, with growing industry and tourisim, young singles, professionals, and migrants. As the team thinks about starting a Presbyterian network of churches who are accountable to one another and connected to one another, this location and ministry style just made sense.
