Kampala is a bustling and vibrant city of chaos and color, intense poverty, and stunning beauty. Here in Uganda’s capital, MTW missionaries work alongside national partners to help catalyze a movement of planting and nurturing healthy, gospel-centered, and biblical churches. MTW partners with the Reformation Church in East Africa, which is focused on training, mentoring, ordaining, and sending Indigenous pastors and church planters. The RCEA is currently working with pastoral candidates from several surrounding countries, including Rwanda and Burundi, and expects more countries within the next few years. We also partner with institutions like African Bible University and Africa Reformation Theological Seminary to provide sound biblical and ministerial training to African pastors and church leaders. Another partner is the Shalom Network for Church Health, which works to revitalize existing congregations.

Opportunities abound for ministry to expand. Priority areas include mentoring Indigenous candidates for pastoral ministry, starting campus ministries, and training Ugandans for campus ministry. There is also a need to assist churches in economic development which can lead to them becoming self-sustainable. Equipping churches to effectively engage in biblical justice and mercy ministry as well as ministry to women, youth and children are also key areas for supporting healthy church planting.
